🌐 Internet / Working

  • There are tons of digital nomad friendly cafes with great wifi

  • Lots of coworking options with great wifi too

Note: Cape Town experiences Load Shedding - an ongoing period of widespread national blackouts of electricity supply. To ensure you experience as little disruption as possible, look to book a place that does not get load shedding, has a generator, or has solar power.

🗣️ Language: English is widely spoken

It is very easy to communicate with locals and other tourists

🌤️ Weather

  • Beautiful weather!

  • It is Cape Town summer from Oct-April (think sunshine & clear skies)

  • The hottest months are Dec, Jan and Feb

🎟️ Public Transport & Infrastructure

  • Uber and Bolt are very popular in Cape Town.

  • It is also easy to rent a car while you are here and there is so much to explore within South Africa so I do recommend it.

  • They also have public transportation that is very affordable if you’d prefer to get around that way.

Things to do

  • Explore the natural beauty of hiking and the iconic mountains Table Mountain and Lion’s Head

  • Explore the wine country and all of the beautiful landscapes and wineries around!

  • Explore the hundreds of beach options ranging from some iconic ones like Camps Bay and Clifton to more secret secluded ones like Bakoven beach and Cosy Bay

📈 Best things

  • The locals

  • The food options

  • The weather and natural beauty

📉 Worst things

  • It’s not advised to walk around at night

  • Load shedding

  • The poverty gap

Anything Else?

After spending 3 years traveling, Cape Town is my favorite place I have been to.

It is a city that feels like home and I will keep coming back!

Listen to our Fill your Sol podcast episode called Cape Town 101 for more information, and greater details about our time spent in this beautiful country of South Africa.

✅ Go here if…

  • You want to meet other digital nomads and creatives

  • You want to have amazing food and cuisine options

  • You love hiking, nature and beaches

❌ Avoid here if…

  • You enjoy walking around the city at night

  • You’re sensitive to being around a low poverty line

  • Not able to deal with load-shedding inconveniences (ideally you’d have a flexible work schedule to work around this)

That’s all for this time.

See you right back here next Friday, with another community-sourced Digital Nomad Trip Report 🔵
